1. Location

Finland - Lapland - Rovaniemi airport - Santa Claus Village.

Glass Resort is located in a minute walking distance to Santa Claus Office. Once you’ve reached Santa Claus Village, Glass Resort is easy to recognize by its large igloos, snow slide and the color lighting.

To get there by air:
Helsinki - Rovaniemi daily flights. Flight time - 1h20m. Price from 35€ (Norwegian, Finnair).
Resort is located 4 km from Rovaniemi airport. There is a schedule bus service from airport to Santa Claus village. Transfers are available from/to the airport for an extra fee and needs to be booked in advance. Airport transfer 5€/person/one way (price 2019).

To get there by train:
Helsinki - Rovaniemi daily trains by VR. Duration - 8-12h. Price from 68€ (Finnish railways VR).
Resort is located 8 km from Rovaniemi railway station. There is a schedule bus service from Rovaniemi to Santa Claus village. Transfers are available from/to the station for an extra fee and needs to be booked in advance. City transfer 25€-30€/one way (price 2019).

3. Glass Resort Rooms

Two-storied apartments in semi-detached glass cabins. Size of each apartment is 40m2.

Maximum capacity in one apartment is 2+2 persons.

Each apartment equipped with thermal glass ceiling and glass wall, private sauna and outdoor hot spa, bathroom with Aroma Sense shower and hygiene products, and toilet. Apartments are decorated with Lappish handicrafts and Scandinavian design items.

There are living area with sofa, TV, air conditioner, safety deposit box, WiFi.

Dining area with table + chairs for 4 persons, mini-kitchen with dishwasher, water kettle, coffee maker, microwave, fridge, stove, dishes for 4 persons.

5. Outdoor Hot Spa in Glass Resort accommodation

Each Glass Apartment includes own heated outdoor Jacuzzi with lighting, forest and sky view.

Guest can to use the outdoor hot spa during hours of 7am to 12am. Between 12am and 7am the use of the hot spa is not allowed due to general silence in the area.

Room price in 2019 is between 496€ - 950€/night depending the season.

Check-in time & Transfer

Glass Resort is open from mid September to mid April.

Check-in time from 3pm.
Check-out time at 11am.

There is luggage service available by request from 8am to 8pm. You can leave your luggage and spend some time in the area before check-in.

Transfers are available to/from the Rovaniemi city/Rovaniemi airport. Needs to be booked in advance.
Airport transfer 7€/person/one way. City transfer from 30€/one way (*prices are valid in 2019).

Vegetarian food

Vegetarian food available. Some options for vegetarian at breakfast (please, inform in advance). For dinner: Ice restaurant offers vegetarian option Nordic Nature. Glass resort restaurant located at reception building offers vegetarian option as well.

Weather & Clothing

Winter clothing rental is available to overnight guests. Price for outdoor clothing rental is 15-25€/person/day incl. winter overalls, shoes, gloves, scarf. Winter clothing rental is subject to availability.

Recommended warm winter clothing: thermal under-layer, warm mid-layer, winter jacket, trousers and winter boots. Hat, gloves and scarf are essential.

There is Aurora App available to by from the reception. Price 9,90€ (*price valid in 2019). Once the app has been downloaded, the guests will receive alarms if the Northern Lights are visible.

Glass Resort is convenient winter destination. It suits for short Lapland break as well as for longer holidays. Most of the Lapland activities are located in the area within walking distance from the resort.

Ice Restaurant is built entirely of snow and ice. It is decorated with snow and ice sculptures.
Ice Restaurant Lunch Experience includes entrance ticket to Winter Zone and Salmon Soup lunch + dessert. Lunch is available every day from mid December to end of March from 12pm to 3pm. Winter Zone ticket is valid all day.
Ice Restaurant Dinner Experience includes 3 course menu of choice: Wild Lapland menu, Arctic Sea menu and Nordic Nature menu, also separate menu for children. Every day between mid December – 5th Jan. Wed and Sat between 6th Jan – end of March from 6:00PM onward.

Glass Resort Winter Zone

Winter Zone consists of approx. 600m2 of snow and ice structures including Ice Bar, Ice Restaurant, ice & snow sculptures. With the same entrance ticket the guest can visit all of the above and also take part in the Snow Fun activities featuring big ice slides and ice skating. All necessary equipment for these activities are provided.

Entrance ticket is valid all day. Entrance tickets are not needed to book in advance. Available depending the weather conditions from mid December till end of March. Opening hours: 11am-5pm (except 24.12., 25.12., 1.1. - shorter working hours).

Snowmobile safaris

Glass Resort Safaris offer different snowmobile adventures: Snowmobile Safari Crossing the Arctic Circle (Approximately 2,5 hours; price ~140€/person) and Snowmobile Safari to Husky and Reindeer farms (Approximately 4,5 hours; price ~190€/person). Also the Northern Lights photography evening tour available (Approximately 4-5 hours; price ~125€/person)*.

All snowmobile safaris include safari clothing and helmet, snowmobile driving instructions, fuel, insurance (personal liability applies), guide services in Finnish and in English. Please note, the driver of the snowmobile has to have a valid drivers license and minimum 18 years of age.

Glass Resort resort is located 150m from Santa Claus Office. Santa office open every day, both winter and summer. Entrance and meeting with Santa - free of charge. No advance reservation needed.

Using of own cameras while meeting Santa is prohibited; professional photos and videos available for a fee. Price in 2019 is from 30€ up to 40-45€ for 6 high resolution photos and a video clip you meeting Santa. No obligation to purchase anything however.

Reindeer safari

There is Santa Claus Reindeer Resort backyard of Santa Claus office. Santa’s reindeer safari track also is located there.

It is possible to start the ride right next to Santa Office (address: Joulumaantie 13, Rovaniemi). No advanced reservation needed. Path from 5 to 35 min (400m - 3km). Suitable for all ages.

Available: December - April. Price from 14€/child - 18€/adult (~5 minutes ride).

Husky safari

Arctic Circle Husky Park is located next to Santa Claus village (left side), 400 m from Snowman Glass resort. Open every day year round. Guided tour daily at 12.00 (duration about 0,5 h).

Husky park entrance fee: 10€/adult, 5€/child (4-12 years), family ticket 20€ (1-2 adults + 1-3 children)*. * Prices are valid for winter season 2019.

The short rides and safaris (500 m and 2 km) do not need any prior reservation. They are run non-stop during opening hours. Other safaris should be booked in advance.

Husky rides prices are from 30-45€/adult, 15-25€/child (short safaris up to 2 km) + Husky Park entrance fee.

Northern Lights photography tour

Minibus tour into the peaceful nature away from the city lights. Professional photographer guides to the best places to chase for the Northern Lights. In case there are no possibility to see the Northern lights due to weather conditions, group will concentrate on night photography in the beautiful nature of Lapland.

Available every day between end of September and mid April.
Time 8:00 PM.
Duration ~ 4-5 hours.
Price from 125€/person*. Minimum age 12+.
Includes: private expedition guide, hot drinks and snacks, Northern Lights hunt, hotel pick-up and drop-off, minivan transportation, warm clothes and winter boots (if needed).

Moomin Snowcastle

A huge Snow castle right in Santa Claus Village with residents of the Moominvalley. There are Moomin ice sculptures gallery - Moominmamma, Moominpappa and their friends - as five-meter snow and ice sculptures. 50-meter long slide, snow labyrinth, Moominvalley magic forest, fun zone with interactive wall, ice bar and souvenir shop.

Open every day from 9 to 19 throughout the winter season.
Price for 2019: 30€/adult; 18€/children (4–11 years old, 0-3 years old free of charge). All tickets are valid for one day.

Santa Park

Visiting SantaPark is a must-do activity for families with kids! This is an indoor Christmas theme park voted the top Christmas destination in the world. Plan a visit for at least 2-3 hours (usually kids want to stay there for a longer time).

There are Arctic Circle, Ice gallery and Ice bar, Angry birds activity park, gingerbread bakery, Elf workshop, Santa Claus office with real Santa, Magic train, Post office and Elf Show performances.

Santa Claus Secret Forest Joulukka

Luxury and authentic Santa experience. Santa Claus Secret Forest is an exclusive destination where you can experience the magic of Christmas either privately or in small groups.

There are few weekly programs available: Dream of Joulukka, Gingerbread secret of Santa Claus, Search for the Northern Lights with Santa Claus. Prices are from 129-179€/adult; 103-139€/child (2-12 years old); free for children under 2 years old (* prices valid for winter 2019). Also exclusive private programs and meeting with Santa available.

Located 20km from Rovaniemi city center. Open by request all-year-round.
Santa Claus Secret Forest is a private destination located on private grounds, and is therefore only accessible if you have made a booking in advance.

Northern Lights flights

In case you come to Lapland from other side of the Earth to see the Northern Lights but clouds are blocking the sky - there is 1 solution. Check Northern Lights flights offered by Wild Nordic Finland (

Daily departures from Rovaniemi airport between December and March.
Pick you and return transfer to the airport. The air-plane is Piper PA-31 instrumental flight equipped with an anti-icing system and carries 7 passengers.
Flight time is around 1 hour, including take-off and landing preparations.

The Lapland Military Band’s warm-hearted Christmas concert, beloved and popular indeed, will bring us the Christmas spirit this year, too. Soprano Anna-Maria Jurvelin will perform as a visiting soloist. Along with the soloist, the audience will also get to join in accompanied by the professional orchestra.

Santa is on His Way -broadcast 2021. Santa Claus Village, Arctic Circle

Each year, Santa leaves Santa Claus Village in Rovaniemi, Lapland, Finland to bring Christmas cheer to people all around the globe. Santa Claus gives his speech wishing merry Christmas to the whole world before hopping in his reindeer-pulled sleigh and embarking on his tour. This year, the event will be organized with no audience due to latest corona restrictions. The event will be broadcasted on Facebook by Visit Rovaniemi on December 23rd at 7 PM local time (UTC +2).

Arctic Lapland Rally. Rovaniemi, Lapland

The 57th Arctic Lapland Rally in 2022 will be competed on Friday and Saturday the 14-15th of January. The competitors start their arctic adventure on the over 220 kilometres of special stages already on Monday the 10th of January when the reconnaissance period begins. The rally route sees changes for 2022 as over 23% and over 50 special stage kilometres are new to all the drivers. For spectators the biggest change is the new special stage right in the heart of Rovaniemi at the Ounasvaara ski center. Naturally the route also includes beloved stages, such as the familiar final stage of Ristilampi at the remote Finnish Defence Forces training grounds. The brave rivals face endless snowy roads and ice cold temperatures at the mercy of the Lappish wilderness!
