Arctic Glass Igloo resort is the Lapland holiday village with 360-degree glass roof igloos. There are also Snow Hotel, Ice restaurant and Ice bar, Ice chapel and Snow sauna in the resort area. Everything to experience snow and ice activities in 1 place, and try your luck to see the Northern Lights.
Arctic glass igloos are open from mid September till March 31 during Aurora season.
Finland - Lapland - Rovaniemi city center (27 km) - Rovaniemi airport (35 km) - Santa Claus Village (35 km).
Arctic Glass Igloos are located on the Arctic Circle, 30 min drive from Rovaniemi Airport.
To get there by plane:
Helsinki - Rovaniemi daily flights. Flight time - 1h20m. Price from 35€ (Norwegian, Finnair).
Resort is located 35 km from Rovaniemi airport. Taxi or pick up service available for an additional fee.
To get there by train:
Helsinki - Rovaniemi daily trains by VR. Duration - 8-12h. Price from 68€ (Finnish railways VR).
Resort is located 27 km from Rovaniemi railway station. Taxi or pick up service available for an additional fee.
Location of the resort is quite remote. Car rental is recommended if you stay there few nights to be more flexible with travelling around.
There are now 39 glass igloos with 127 beds.
Room size 20m². 360º glass roof. 2 single beds. Third bed can be added as an extra bed for additional fee.
Each glass igloo has heated floor and thermal-glass roof. Private bathroom with a shower. The beds are motorized to adjust the optimal position for sleeping or viewing the skies.
Room facilities: seating area, hairdryer, refridgerator, electric kettle, wifi.
Room size 33m². 360º glass roof. Suitable for 1-5 persons. There are 4 single beds in the igloo. Fifth bed can be added as an extra bed for additional fee.
Heated floor and thermal-glass roof. Private bathroom with a shower. The beds are motorized to adjust the optimal position for sleeping or viewing the skies. Due to the motorization feature of the beds there can not be a double bed.

Compulsory dinners:
Dec 24: Buffet dinner with Finnish Christmas food. Santa Claus visit with a little gift during the evening. 99€/adult, 69€/child (price as a guide for 2018).
Dec 31: Buffet dinner at Log restaurant or 4-course dinner at Ice restaurant. Activities and fireworks arranged outside, welcome drink. 130€/adult, 90€/child (price as a guide for 2018).

There is no public transport between Rovaniemi and Arctic Glass Igloos. Hotel arranges transfer upon request.
Breakfast is always included and is served at Log restaurant 7:30-10:00.
If you leave before the breakfast starts, you can request for breakfast package from the reception before you leave.
There is Kota Restaurant on-site. It is located on the lake shore. It serves lunch and dinner. Lunch is served daily at Kota restaurant 12:00-15:00 and can be ordered from the reception.
There are fish, meat and vegetarian dishes. On the menu also burgers, salads and pasta dishes.
The speciality dish of Restaurant Kota is the glowfried salmon fillet.
Arctic SnowHotel is located next to the glass igloos and the entrance fee is included for the guests staying in the glass igloos.
Arctic SnowHotel includes approximately 30 hotel rooms, Ice chapel, Ice Restaurant and Ice Bar. The temperature inside is between 0C and -5C degrees at all times.
Please note that the Snow Hotel, Ice restaurant and Ice bar needs to be re-built every year, and the construction takes place from October to December. This might cause some disturbance. Snow Hotel and Ice restaurant and bar are only open from the 20th of December until the 31st of March.
Finnish sauna is included in the accommodation price in common use for women at 21:00-22:00 & 08:00-09:00 and for men at 22:00-23:00 & 09:00-10:00.
Sauna in private use can be booked, snow sauna and/or outdoor jacuzzi - for an additional price.
It is possible to see the Northern Lights in Lapland from mid-August to the end of April in a dark time.
The Northern Lights are not guaranteed as it is a natural phenomena and it always depends on the current weather.
Location of the glass igloo resort is good to see the Northern Lights as it is situated far from city lights. There is no need to book any Aurora dedicated tour. If Aurora is visible you can see it from an igloo or outside on the yard.
Northern Lights Alarm service available in the glass igloos. It immediately sounds gently an alarm when the Northern Lights can be seen in the sky.
Aurora Alarm service operates during the winter season between the times 23:30 – 6.30.
Wi-fi is available in accommodations and resort area.
Mobile phones work well.

Recommended warm winter clothing: thermal under-layer, warm mid-layer, winter jacket, trousers and winter boots. Hat, gloves and scarf are essential.

Visiting Arctic SnowHotel on-site in included for glass igloo guests of the resort. Inside Arctic SnowHotel there are approximately 30 hotel rooms, Ice chapel, Ice Restaurant and Ice Bar. Arctic SnowHotel is one of the largest in the Nordic region. Hotel building is carved each year to be different in appearance. The walls and furniture surfaces of the unique rooms are decorated with ice art and illuminated artwork.
There is traditional log-built sauna for common use by guests. The common sauna shifts for men and women are every evening at 21:00-23:00 and in the morning 8:00-10:00 (this is included in the accommodation price). The hotel reserves the right to change the time for the public sauna shifts.
Snow sauna available on-site (extra fee). Sauna is made from snow and ice. Only the sauna benches are made from wood. There are also outdoor heated Jacuzzis with massaging jets available (extra fee). Rates for private sauna (minimum 2 persons): Finnish sauna 20€/person; Finnish sauna + snow sauna 45€/person; Finnish sauna + outdoor jacuzzi 40€/person; Finnish sauna + snow sauna + outdoor jacuzzi 65€/person (*prices are valid in 2019, given here as a guide).
Snow shoes can be rented at any point free of charge. Guided snowshoe trips. Arranged for hotel guests daytime, approximately 2 hours. Price ~90€/adult, ~60€/child.
Ice Fishing on the adjacent Lake Lehtojärvi for pike-perch, perch, white-fish. Arranged for hotel guests daily in the morning. Proximately 1 hour. Price ~50€/adult, ~30€/child (*prices are valid in 2019, given here as a guide).
Arctic SnowHotel & Glass Igloos does not offer own snowmobile, husky and reindeer safaris. Those activity providers can be found nearby. The first and the only electric snowmobile safaris – eSled – in the world! It is silent, emission-free and as close to the nature as possible.
Suitable for all ages 4+ and for beginners. Driving licence is needed to be a driver of a snowmobile. Children aged 4-14 use a sleigh towed by the guides eSled.
The safaris start from Arctic SnowHotel & Glass Igloos site in Sinettä, Rovaniemi. All safaris include an experienced guide, delicious snacks, top quality, extra warm winter clothing.

Huskypoint is a family-owned private company operating in Rovaniemi area. Offers sled husky safaris for individual travellers and groups. Own forest trails in Sinettä area. Safaris available from December till mid April. Price from 125€/adult; 95€/child 4-12 yrs.
Santa office open every day, both winter and summer. Entrance and meeting with Santa - free of charge. No advance reservation needed.
Using of own cameras while meeting Santa is prohibited; professional photos and videos available for a fee. Price in 2019 is from 30€ up to 40-45€ for 6 high resolution photos and a video clip you meeting Santa. No obligation to purchase anything however.
A huge Snow castle right in Santa Claus Village with residents of the Moominvalley. There are Moomin ice sculptures gallery - Moominmamma, Moominpappa and their friends - as five-meter snow and ice sculptures. 50-meter long slide, snow labyrinth, Moominvalley magic forest, fun zone with interactive wall, ice bar and souvenir shop.
Open every day from 9 to 19 throughout the winter season.
Price for 2019: 30€/adult; 18€/children (4–11 years old, 0-3 years old free of charge). All tickets are valid for one day.
Visiting SantaPark is a must-do activity for families with kids! This is an indoor Christmas theme park voted the top Christmas destination in the world. Plan a visit for at least 2-3 hours (usually kids want to stay there for a longer time).
There are Arctic Circle, Ice gallery and Ice bar, Angry birds activity park, gingerbread bakery, Elf workshop, Santa Claus office with real Santa, Magic train, Post office and Elf Show performances.

Daily departures from Rovaniemi airport between December and March.

The Lapland Military Band’s warm-hearted Christmas concert, beloved and popular indeed, will bring us the Christmas spirit this year, too. Soprano Anna-Maria Jurvelin will perform as a visiting soloist. Along with the soloist, the audience will also get to join in accompanied by the professional orchestra.
Each year, Santa leaves Santa Claus Village in Rovaniemi, Lapland, Finland to bring Christmas cheer to people all around the globe. Santa Claus gives his speech wishing merry Christmas to the whole world before hopping in his reindeer-pulled sleigh and embarking on his tour. This year, the event will be organized with no audience due to latest corona restrictions. The event will be broadcasted on Facebook by Visit Rovaniemi on December 23rd at 7 PM local time (UTC +2).

The 57th Arctic Lapland Rally in 2022 will be competed on Friday and Saturday the 14-15th of January. The competitors start their arctic adventure on the over 220 kilometres of special stages already on Monday the 10th of January when the reconnaissance period begins. The rally route sees changes for 2022 as over 23% and over 50 special stage kilometres are new to all the drivers. For spectators the biggest change is the new special stage right in the heart of Rovaniemi at the Ounasvaara ski center. Naturally the route also includes beloved stages, such as the familiar final stage of Ristilampi at the remote Finnish Defence Forces training grounds. The brave rivals face endless snowy roads and ice cold temperatures at the mercy of the Lappish wilderness!
Rovaniemi is the hometown of Santa Claus in Lapland and is famous for its reindeer. Every year, at the end of winter, several reindeer races happen in the Rovaniemi area.
