Arctic Fox Igloos is a luxurious glass igloo resort, located 5 km from Ranua Wildlife Park. Each glass igloo has a private sauna, own kitchenette, lake view and 270-degree glass roof sky panorama view. Lakeside location provides an unobstructed view to the far-reaching open lake and skies.
Arctic Fox Igloos are open all year round. Peak season is from mid November to end of March.

Arctic Fox Igloos are located within 1 h drive from Rovaniemi airport. There is peaceful area on the shore of lake Ranuanjärvi. Igloos have open panorama sky and nature view over the lake.
The location being great for the Northern lights hunting - less light pollution and space to observe the sky from an igloo or from lakeside/frozen lake during winter.
To get there by plane:
Helsinki - Rovaniemi daily flights. Flight time - 1h20m. Price from 35€ (Norwegian, Finnair).

Igloos are located 85 km from Rovaniemi city center. Bus connection between Rovaniemi city center and Ranua 3-4 time per day (1h15min drive, ticket is ~18 €/1 way). Car rental is recommended if you stay there few nights and would like to visit Rovanemi, Santa Claus village, Ranua Zoo and other Lapland attractions. Also food service is quite limited on-site, but there are few restaurants nearby in Ranua village and Ranua Zoo area.
Arctic Fox glass igloos are located on the shore of the Ranuanjärvi lake. Each glass igloo has an unobstructed view across the open lake and sky. All igloos are equipped with glass panels heating in the sleeping area and in the kitchenette to prevent the frosting. The entrance, toilet, sauna and the washing room are situated in the wood-walled part of the igloo, facing the forest and providing privacy.

The maximum number of extra beds in a room is 2 - mainly for kids.

There are two dinner sittings: at 6 pm (18.00) and 8 pm (20.00). Advance reservation needed the latest 24 hours before arrival.
It is possible to see the Northern Lights in Lapland from mid-August to the end of April in a dark time.
The Northern Lights are not guaranteed as it is a natural phenomena and it always depends on the current weather.
Location of the Arctic Fox glass igloo resort is good to see the Northern Lights. It is situated far from city lights on the lake shore with open sky panorama. There is no need to book any Aurora dedicated tour. If Aurora is visible you can see it from an igloo or outside on the yard.

Recommended warm winter clothing: thermal under-layer, warm mid-layer, winter jacket, trousers and winter boots. Hat, gloves and scarf are essential.
Guide will take you the polar bears Nest and going through the safety instructions. You will not be allowed to go into the polar bear area, but you will have the chance to greet the largest predator in the world safely from the other side of the fence, just a couple of meters away. The animal keeper will provide you with interesting information on the Polar Bears and the Wildlife Park. Transfer to Polar Bear house will be on a sled pulled by a snowmobile guide.

There are different snowmobile safaris available from short 30 min family safaris up to 4 h drive safaris. Easy family safaris are well suited for the whole family as well as first-timers.
Starting point for the safari is Safari House / Holiday Village Gulo Gulo reception in Ranua. Duration from 30 min. Price (2019): Adult (shared snowmobile) €70, Adult (single driver) €110, Child 4-14 years €54, Child 0-3 years €40.
Safari includes detailed information on steering the sled. Comfortable sleds head into the winter wonderland. A sled can transport two adults and a child. You have the opportunity to steer your own sled, and change drivers with the other adult in the sled halfway. Duration of the whole program is approximately 1 hour.
Relaxing and ambient, Lappish arts and crafts moment with a local handicraft artist, Ms. Paula. Together with her assistance, you will have the opportunity to make a genuine reindeer leather souvenir for yourself. This arts and crafts workshop takes place in Ranua Zoo´s Lappish hut, which is located right next to info and ticket sales office. Duration of the program is approximately 1- 1,5 hours. Ranua Wildlife Park offer an unique experience to see polar bears and 50 other different Arctic animal species. The animals live in spacious fencings in the midst of northern wide forests, in their as authentic natural environment as possible. For the wellbeing of the animals there are no lighting inside the Wildlife Park. If you visit the Wildlife Park after 2 pm in the wintertime you should bring your own torch with you. You can also buy a torch from the ticket sales office.
Entrance ticket is 15-19€/person depending the season (valid in 2019).
Mini-snowmobile track is located right at the main entrance of the Wildlife Park Ranua. Children can try their skills riding a mini-snowmobile in the winter. Before venturing on the track, the little snowmobilers are equipped with appropriate snowmobile-gear, and only 2 are allowed on the track at the same time. Mini-snowmobile track is open 25.12.–10.1., from 11.00–15.00. Price 10€ (in 2019)
Come and see the life in the reindeer farm. During the visit you will meet reindeer and see the work that is done on the farm. You will also get to feed the reindeer. After feeding the reindeer, a reindeer sleigh will take you to a warm hut for a hot drink and a chat with the people of the farm.
When: December through April. Duration approx. 1,5 hours.
Susimaa is a wolfdog and farm and also own vegetable farm. Susimaa is a concept of a simple off-grid life in the middle of the woods and a step back into a living as it once has been. Open all year around for visitors. Different season – different tours – but always exclusive adventures for small groups only. Price from 40€ visit and meeting the dogs with coffee/tea at the bonfire (in 2019).
Santa office open every day, both winter and summer. Entrance and meeting with Santa - free of charge. No advance reservation needed.
Using of own cameras while meeting Santa is prohibited; professional photos and videos available for a fee. Price in 2019 is from 30€ up to 40-45€ for 6 high resolution photos and a video clip you meeting Santa. No obligation to purchase anything however.
A huge Snow castle right in Santa Claus Village with residents of the Moominvalley. There are Moomin ice sculptures gallery - Moominmamma, Moominpappa and their friends - as five-meter snow and ice sculptures. 50-meter long slide, snow labyrinth, Moominvalley magic forest, fun zone with interactive wall, ice bar and souvenir shop.
Open every day from 9 to 19 throughout the winter season.
Price for 2019: 30€/adult; 18€/children (4–11 years old, 0-3 years old free of charge). All tickets are valid for one day.
Visiting SantaPark is a must-do activity for families with kids! This is an indoor Christmas theme park voted the top Christmas destination in the world. Plan a visit for at least 2-3 hours (usually kids want to stay there for a longer time).
There are Arctic Circle, Ice gallery and Ice bar, Angry birds activity park, gingerbread bakery, Elf workshop, Santa Claus office with real Santa, Magic train, Post office and Elf Show performances.

The Lapland Military Band’s warm-hearted Christmas concert, beloved and popular indeed, will bring us the Christmas spirit this year, too. Soprano Anna-Maria Jurvelin will perform as a visiting soloist. Along with the soloist, the audience will also get to join in accompanied by the professional orchestra.
Each year, Santa leaves Santa Claus Village in Rovaniemi, Lapland, Finland to bring Christmas cheer to people all around the globe. Santa Claus gives his speech wishing merry Christmas to the whole world before hopping in his reindeer-pulled sleigh and embarking on his tour. This year, the event will be organized with no audience due to latest corona restrictions. The event will be broadcasted on Facebook by Visit Rovaniemi on December 23rd at 7 PM local time (UTC +2).

The 57th Arctic Lapland Rally in 2022 will be competed on Friday and Saturday the 14-15th of January. The competitors start their arctic adventure on the over 220 kilometres of special stages already on Monday the 10th of January when the reconnaissance period begins. The rally route sees changes for 2022 as over 23% and over 50 special stage kilometres are new to all the drivers. For spectators the biggest change is the new special stage right in the heart of Rovaniemi at the Ounasvaara ski center. Naturally the route also includes beloved stages, such as the familiar final stage of Ristilampi at the remote Finnish Defence Forces training grounds. The brave rivals face endless snowy roads and ice cold temperatures at the mercy of the Lappish wilderness!
Rovaniemi is the hometown of Santa Claus in Lapland and is famous for its reindeer. Every year, at the end of winter, several reindeer races happen in the Rovaniemi area.
