4.1Kakslauttanen Arctic Resort is where the glass igloo was born. In 1973, founder Aslak Lohi was caught in a snowstorm and spent the night in his car on this spot. He built a shelter, then an igloo, then more - and eventually created what became the most famous arctic accommodation concept in the world. Today the resort stretches across two villages in the wilderness of Saariselka, 241 kilometres north of the Arctic Circle and 40 minutes from Ivalo Airport.
